This year, in 2024, the Subaru Telescope celebrates its 25th anniversary since its first light in January 1999.
Observing the sky from the summit area of Maunakea in Hawai`i, the Subaru Telescope has achieved numerous observational milestones, including the discovery of distant galaxies and direct imaging of extrasolar planets.
As we mark the 25th anniversary of the Subaru Telescope, we are planning various events for this year.

【1】Subaru Telescope 25th Anniversary Logo
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Subaru Telescope, we have created an original logo.
The rainbow over the Subaru Telescope on Maunaeka consists of iconic items indicative of Hawai`i and the night sky. The rainbow is one of the symbols of Hawai`i and also represents the visible light observed by the Subaru Telescope.
【2】New Images Every Month!
From April 2024, we will post two new images monthly on the Subaru Gallery. Please enjoy images of celestial bodies taken with the Subaru Telescope observational instruments, including Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC).
